Charlene Castelo

Canadian Certified Counsellor

Charlene completed her undergraduate work at the University of Alberta in 2003 and has recently completed her Master of Counselling through City University of Seattle. Charlene has been working with children, youth, and families since 2000. During this time, she has specialized in mentoring youth at-risk, helping families learn new parenting skills and ways of communicating, and providing crisis intervention to youth and families. She has experience working with individuals who identify as LGBTQ, individuals recovering from substance abuse, as well as individuals who are victims of interpersonal violence. She is a member in good standing with the following associations:

Charlene’s most recent work includes providing therapy to clients experiencing depression, grief, and anxiety. Her work also includes facilitating groups for individuals who are experiencing anxiety and she also has training in Play Therapy. Charlene primarily uses approaches from Cognitive Behavioural, Solution-Focused, Mindfulness and Attachment Based Therapies. She is skilled at creating strong therapeutic alliances with clients and strives to collaboratively work with clients and help them achieve overall health and well-being, so that they can be their best selves.

Charlene likes to continue enhancing her skills and knowledge by taking further training and workshops. Outside of the therapy room, Charlene likes to spend time with her loved ones, eat good food, watch movies, and practice yoga.
