Hold Me Tight Couples Communication Workshop

HopeWell Psychological is proud to be offering couples communication workshops. The Hold Me Tight Couples Workshops are facilitated by HopeWell clinicians, using either in-person or online formats.

Couples have been asking for more support between their individual sessions and some have also expressed that they need a cost effective way to help bring their relationship back on track. In response, we have decided to meet your needs.

In our roles as Relationship Experts, we often hear partners making comments like:
– I’m exhausted from the endless arguments that we have.
– I’ve tried everything and no matter what I do or how much I try to fix our relationship problems, nothing seems to change between us.
– I feel like we are growing apart – it’s like we are living parallel lives.

This Workshop is a good fit for you if:

  • You find yourselves in the same arguments over and over again
  • You both feel disconnected from each other
  • You are spending a lot of time in negative emotions rather than in positive ones
  • You are living parallel lives, like roommates
  • You feel like you have tried everything to fix the relationship
  • You want to deepen and enhance your already strong relationship

Love is not a mystery anymore! Hold Me Tight is a Psycho-Educational workshop, based on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an approach that has been researched for over 30 years. In this group, couples can learn how to have conversations that build connection and trust, how to manage conflict, and how to strengthen their relationship. We cover topics such as how to get out of negative relationship patterns that leave you feeling hurt and alone, how to have open and intimate conversations, how to talk about your past hurts without getting into a fight, and helping you understand how emotional intimacy is connected to having a fulfilling sex life.

Research on EFT has shown that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and about 90% of couples show greater improvements as compared to when they started coming to therapy. These results tend to last at follow up.

How can our workshop benefit you?

  • Create a more loving, trusting, and fulfilling relationship
  • Improve communication and mutual understanding
  • Enhance your loving bond and connection
  • Learn how to work through the negative emotional blocks
  • Create a love that lasts forever

What previous participants have said about the workshop?

  • “We learned lot of tools to be more proactive in recognizing and addressing issues in our relationship.”
  • “Somehow you’ve helped me reach [my partner] and I’m thankful for that.”
  • “We came to this workshop essentially a broken couple and we are leaving with hope. We both acknowledge for the first time that we have a lot of work to do and are excited about moving forward.”
  • “Thank you … for being there … as I had a couple of instances where intense emotion passed through me.”
  • “Thank you for giving us some tools to help us.”
  • “Thank you for giving of yourselves this weekend – even though I found some conversations hard, we made it through.”
  • “I will try to be more emotionally available to connect with my spouse instead of disconnecting. Listen – truly listen and not judge.”

What are experts in the field saying about EFT?

  • “One of the few approaches to couples therapy that has been proven to be effective.” — Jay Lebow, Ph.D, President, Division of Family Psychology of the American Psychological Association
  • “EFT gives a proven road map to the process of change in couple therapy.” — John Gottman, Ph.D, Bestselling author of The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work
  • “EFT is one of the best documented, most substantive and well researched approaches to couple therapy.” — Alan S. Gurman, Ph.D
  • “EFT has achieved an astounding 75 percent success rate. Results are lasting!”—American Psychological Association
